Who else out there is too chicken to start with resin?
I get it.
Maybe you feel like you need to learn more first.
Maybe you’re confused about what products to buy.
Maybe you’re afraid of making a massive messy mistake and wasting your time and energy.
Or maybe you’ve already made a few projects and you’re wondering why things didn’t turn out like the picture in your head.
WHERE AM I GOING WRONG? 😭

About
If you’ve landed on this page, it’s probably because you’re curious to know how someone could be so passionate about resin. Trust me. I get it. I would wonder the same thing if I were you.
My name is Katherine, and yes, I have a resin obsession.
So how does an artist get obsessed with resin?
Let’s take a trip to 2006.
I was a handmade jewelry maker traveling to art shows selling my silver jewelry and winning awards. Then, the housing crisis made a mess of the economy, and investors started putting their money into precious metals. The silver I was using in my jewelry was now three times the cost of just a year earlier, and my typical customer was reluctant to pay my new prices. If I was going to stay in the handmade jewelry business, I needed to find an alternative — and fast.
That’s when I discovered resin, except I had no idea how to use it to create jewelry.
There were no blogs, no social media, and I could only find one book about it. So when I saw an opportunity to take an in-person class, I jumped at the chance.
I spent $1500 and ten hours in a car driving to North Carolina to immerse myself in a week-long, in-person class. Now, you might be expecting the ‘happily ever after’ part of the story at this point, but it was anything BUT a fairy tale. All I had to show for my time and energy was a bunch of bubble-filled, sticky resin jewelry pieces and no idea why.
My first pendants looked like I burped bubbles into them instead of resin.
What was even worse was when I tried to get help from the teacher, all I got was,
‘Well, I don’t have that problem in Oregon.’
Yeah, that was super helpful.
So because I’m a bit stubborn and wasn’t going to let the resin get the best of me, I came back to Florida determined as ever to make things work. I took the one book I had and not only completed every project but also recreated them in something you would expect to read about in a science journal. I changed up the resin, the colors, the molds, and anything else I could think of. By the end, I had so many notes, I could have written a thesis for a master’s degree!
Eventually, I purchased Resin Obsession so I could help others, whether a beginner or professional artist, feel excited about their resin creative journey.
So how exactly do I do that?
Resin products tailored to your needs
Most companies try to sell you their resin instead of selling you the right resin.
Despite what you’ve heard, there is no ‘one size fits all’ resin formula. Making something amazing starts with buying resin designed for the results you want. That’s why we have multiple resin formulas tailored for YOUR specific project. Plus, we have resin colors and silicone molds that fit together with those resins, just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Resources to accelerate your learning curve
When you’re brand new to the resin lifestyle, starting a project can feel overwhelming. In fact, you might be hesitant to get started because you don’t want to waste your time and resources making mistakes. Let me tell you that I get it. That’s why I share everything I’ve learned on the Resin Obsession blog. Whether you are a resin beginner or professional artist, you will love having access to more than three hundred FREE articles to troubleshoot a resin disaster, tutorials on making your next masterpiece, perfecting your resin techniques, and everything in between. Basically, my resin knowledge becomes a tool you can use to YOUR advantage.
Plus, we’ve also got a resin forum where you can ask and answer questions with other resin creators who love to help each other. I’m even in there, too, answering your resin questions.
