After 20 years in corporate America, it was time to get out and provide the best coffee in the world. Yes, Dave was an international road warrior enjoying the variety of coffee in other countries while being absolutely disappointed in the product available in the Charlotte NC area and in the USA in general. We are Dave and Melissa Stahlman - owners, roasters, and coffee lovers. After purchasing a 1 kg roaster in 2011, we have experimented with single origin coffee beans to determine the perfect roast level and process. We expanded to an LLC and increased our capacity and quality by the addition of a San Franciscan SF25 gas roaster in 2014. We know we have created something special with fresh micro roasted coffee with distinct flavors and quality based on feedback from our customers.
Be assured the Black Powder Certified assures the beans were grown and harvested in an ecological manner with high respect for the workers. Sometimes this is easy to determine, other times it takes lots of phone calls and research. We choose Black Powder to represent older time when companies didn't put fillers in our food and a wholesome time when we lived off the land.
We hope you will try our coffee and understand why the aged coffee at the grocery store (not aged in oak barrels for good flavor) will no longer be good enough for your taste buds. Single origin, high elevation coffee has no fillers or blends to dilute the unique flavor of a region.
