Why does jennabuilds exist?
I read a quote some time ago, it resonated so deeply that it has stuck with me ever since, -“I do it because I can’t not do it”. jennabuilds exists, simply because it can’t not exist. This may sound dramatic, but I know that this will resonate with my fellow creatives out there. Creativity is so intertwined with my being that when I don’t create, part of me dies. The liberation that comes from not resisting the flow of creativity, makes me feel truly alive; whether that be squelching my hands into the mud of the earth and feeling all of its textures or refining precious elements through technical processes.
After experiencing the full detrimental impact that occurs when this creativity is suppressed, I promised myself that I would no longer be the blockade. The repression of creativity and true self-expression can cause devastating impacts to ones mental and therefore physical health. Subsequently I promise to let my creativity flow and encourage others to do the same.
My goals
I endeavor to lighten and interrupt the daily grind and show people that there is more to life than drudgery and monotony, by opening their eyes to the beauty that lies right in front of them.
I don’t want to participate in the wasteful, excessive consumerist culture that is resulting in the decimation of planet earth and its inhabitants. I will achieve this by using materials that cause as little harm to the environment as possible and are sourced from sustainable and ethical origins, with the majority of materials being recycled from what was previously destined for landfill.
I aim to craft and sculpt new creations that are multi-functional, durable and long lasting, so I am not a participant in the throw away culture.
I promise to be mindful of and to continually access my resource consumption and to intentionally invest love and attention into every creation, whilst never viewing them as merely numbers on a production line.
I aspire for the love that goes into the creation of each item to be passed on to whoever comes into contact with it. My creations are as much everyone else’s as my own, a collaboration of creativity that is ever growing and morphing.
I aim to show people the benefits of investing time, energy and love into the creation of a totally individual and unique item and spread a warm smile from one heart to the next.
